Rejoice in the ComingAdar - Nissan Shalom Mishpocha, This March 4, we enter into the month of Adar #2. Adar #2 happens every three years. Guess what the Jewish people call their leap year... We call it shanah me’uberet meaning "Pregnant Year"! For all the women that have a child/children, though you may not remember the exact pain, you remember the pain of childbirth. However, the result of the pain was much joy! On top of being the "Pregnant Year", Adar (check out events below) comes from the word "Adir" meaning strength. Being the second time this month is repeated, I'd like to think of this month as second strength! This Shabbat is also a special Shabbat as we close Exodus and proclaim Chazak (strength) to each other, yet Exodus is not necessarily over as we draw near to Pesach (Passover). But what does that mean? This means that the pain is about to get real! Many things happened to the Jewish People in the month of Adar, and as we look at the world today, we even see our brothers and sisters in the midst of war and famine. You may even be going through a very difficult situation! However, Paul says it better than anyone... Count it all Joy! You might ask, "but how"? In Galatian's we see that in the midst of excruciating pain, His grace is sufficient! Being Joyful in the midst of pain, Adar, is so great, because it serves as the opening to an even greater rejoicing: the miracles from God's Hand! Yes, it serves as an entrance to receive the Messiah of Israel as it has been done when HaShem delivered us from Egypt, when Yeshua offered His life for us once and for all, and when you my brother/sister recieved God's healing touch - even so today! In all, because our hope and expectation of what and WHO is to come, we count it all joy and stand girded in the strength of our Messiah! For The Joy (Messiah Yeshua) of The Lord is My Strength!
